What’s the Problem? A Tradition at Risk
Talented young Indian classical musicians in the UK lack a structured support pathway to achieve professional mastery. While Western classical musicians receive hundreds of thousands of pounds through music schools with scholarships, conservatoires with full funding, and youth orchestras and performance platforms, talented Indian classical musicians in the UK receive almost nothing. They must work full-time while trying to practice 6-8 hours daily, and often abandon their musical calling due to financial pressure. The traditional guru-shishya system is at risk as senior masters have no successors to carry forward their lineages.
Exceptional talent is being lost. Generations of musical genius may never be heard.
