Through live festivals, concerts, community events and digital innovation, we’re making this genre more accessible, engaging and inspiring than ever before.

Through festivals, concerts, community partnerships and digital innovation, we celebrate the rich heritage of Indian classical music while embracing modern ways to connect people with its magic. By fostering cultural exchange, nurturing local talent and reaching underserved communities, we aim to create a lasting legacy for South Asian arts in Leicester and beyond.

Darbar Culture Festival

The Darbar Culture Festival is a vibrant celebration of music, arts and heritage, bridging the gap between urban, contemporary, and classical genres. Set in Leicester—one of the UK’s most multicultural cities—it brings Indian classical music and South Asian arts to diverse and often underserved communities.

With live performances, artist residencies, family-friendly experiences and wellbeing sessions, the festival transforms everyday spaces into hubs of creativity and connection. From community venues to museums, audiences engage with music, dance, food and storytelling in welcoming and inclusive settings.

Blending tradition with innovation, the festival supports emerging talent, fosters local collaborations and embraces digital experiences to ensure South Asian arts remain accessible, relevant, and rooted in community.

Family Fun-Day and Explorer’s Passport

The Explorer’s Passport offers children and families a fun journey through zones highlighting diverse dance styles, musical instruments, traditional arts and crafts, food and cultural attire. As they explore the rich history behind each, they collect stickers and receive a photo to celebrate their cultural adventure. The experience also includes interactive workshops, inspiring talks and pop-up performances, making it an engaging and educational experience for all.

A holistic exploration of Indian Classical Music and its impact on wellbeing, focusing on music’s profound influence on mental health and physical wellbeing. 

Indian Classical Music Concert Series

Darbar is dicated to bringing world-class Indian Classical Music to the city, with a focus on showcasing South Asian artists and musicians. Our goal is to expand access to classical music for all communities, especially those in areas of high deprivation, by hosting seven to eight affordable concerts each year in intimate settings featuring top-tier artists.
