Yamankalyāṇi is a bhāṣāṅga janyai of the 65th mēḷakartaii Mēchakalyāṇi. It is a sampūrṇa-vakra sampūrṇaiii rāga. The svarasiv occurring in this rāga in ascent are ṣaḍja, chatuśruti riṣabha, antara gāndhāra, prati madhyama, pañchama, chatuśruti dhaivata, kākali niṣāda. Śuddha madhyama, which is a svara not found in its own parent rāga Mēchakalyāṇi, occurs in descentv. Its ārōhaṇavi and avarōhaṇavii are

This rāga has been adopted from Hindustāni music. Its closest equivalent in Hindustāni music is Raag Yamankalyāṇ. It is a rakti rāga or a rāga which pleases instantaneously.
Gāndhāra, both madhyamas, niṣāda are rāgachāyā svarasviii. Riṣabha, gāndhāra, pañcama, niṣāda are nyāsa svarasix. Sa-pa, sa-ma1, ri-da, ri-pa, ga-da, ga-ni are vādi-samvādi svaras (consonant notes).
It can portray rasasx like karuṇā (compassion), śānta (tranquil) very effectively, just as it can convey the feeling of devotion or bhakti bhāva.
