Ameen Ali Khan

Ameen Ali Khan, a distinguished Indian classical musician, represents the seventh generation of an illustrious musical lineage. He is the son of the renowned Sarod virtuoso Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan and the nephew of the legendary Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. His soulful and expressive performances, celebrated for their purity and adherence to tradition, captivate and inspire audiences. 

The Sarod, one of the central instruments of Hindustani classical music alongside the sitar, has its roots in the ancient Afghan and Persian Rabab. Carved from a single block of teak, this short-necked, fretless lute carries more than 20 strings and is considered one of the most challenging instruments to master. Its sound is deep, reflective, and powerfully resonant. 

Throughout his artistic journey, Ameen has remained dedicated to preserving his family’s heritage while connecting with younger generations. Beyond his extensive tours across India, he has also graced stages in the United Kingdom, performing at esteemed venues such as the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, as well as in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, London’s Cadogan Hall, and the Nehru Centre.
