Aravindhan Baheerathan

Aravindhan Baheerathan is a London‑based Carnatic flautist known for his lyrical renditions on the venu (South Indian flute). A senior disciple of Sri P. Gnanavarathan, Aravindhan completed his arangetram in 2004 and has since established himself as a key figure in the UK Carnatic music scene.

He has performed extensively in the UK and Europe, both as a soloist and accompanist at prestigious events like the Chennai Music Festival. Aravindhan has also contributed to film, featuring on the soundtrack of the Sir Ben Kingsley movie Learning to Drive.

At Darbar Festival 2009, Aravindhan was featured in a UK Carnatic ensemble (with Sindhu & Indu Pathmabaskaran, Kiruthika Nadarajah, Senthuran Premakumar, and Dharmesh Parmar) at London’s Southbank Centre, navigating a vibrant fusion of Carnatic melodies with tabla and mridangam. He returned in 2012, playing venu as part of intimate foyer recitals, showcasing his evocative tonal control and rhythmic interplay—solidifying his presence at Darbar as a leading voice of Carnatic flute in the UK.
