D Srinivas
D Srinivas is a superbly talented veena exponent from Hyderabad. He studied in the family, making his debut aged nine and going on to be the first veena artist to perform at the UN. Renowned for his speed and densely mathematical approach to Carnatic classical music, he continues to tour and teach, constantly developing his style.
In 2015, D. Srinivas made his debut at the Darbar Festival in London, performing at the Southbank Centre. He was accompanied by H.N. Bhaskar on violin, Sai Giridhar on mridangam, and Giridhar Udupa on ghatam. This ensemble delivered a high-energy performance that showcased the veena’s versatility and Srinivas’s virtuosic skill.
“Carnatic music is based on praising the gods, first of all…Ganesh, Saraswati, Lakshmi…”
