The evening begins with the UK’s most exciting tabla virtuoso in a special solo performance. Rayatt, grandson of Bhai Gurmit Singh ji Virdee, transforms his tabla into a storyteller, weaving intricate rhythmic narratives that showcase both technical brilliance and profound musicality. Experience the mesmerising complexity of his compositions as he navigates traditional repertoire with lightning-fast precision, building from meditative beginnings to explosive climaxes. Kulkarni’s harmonium provides the perfect melodic anchor, offering a rich nagma (fixed melody acting as a metronome) and subtle harmonic guidance whilst keeping the tabla firmly in the spotlight.
