In 2013, our eighth year, we welcomed both masters of the tradition and visionary new voices from 19th to 22nd September. The festival featured a series of revelatory performances, including the deeply moving Hindustani vocals of Manjusha Kulkarni-Patil and a masterful sitar recital by Anupama Bhagwat.

We were privileged to host the virtuosic Saraswati veena of Jayanthi Kumaresh and the celebrated Carnatic vocals of Sudha Ragunathan. A standout moment of innovation was our opening performance by Austrian percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger, whose collaboration with traditional Indian masters bridged rhythmic worlds in the Purcell Room. his edition was uniquely special as it focused on the “revelatory” nature of live music, with many artists taking the time to explain the basics of their craft to our diverse UK audience. By deconstructing the ancient raga for a modern setting, we continued our mission to ensure this profound heritage remains vibrant, accessible, and deeply connected to our community.
