From 17th to 21st September 2014, we returned to the Southbank Centre for another year of world-class Indian classical music. As the largest festival of its kind outside of India, this edition was a significant milestone, marking the first time the festival was fully integrated into the Southbank Centre’s prestigious classical music season.

Our stages were graced by a phenomenal array of talent, including the legendary Dr. Prabha Atre, who made a rare and deeply moving UK appearance in her 80s. We also featured a spellbinding performance by the young Carnatic vocal powerhouse Abhishek Raghuram and a beautiful sitar recital by Anupama Bhagwat.

Beyond the main concerts, our popular Yoga Bliss sessions returned, and we launched a comprehensive Indian Classical Music Appreciation Course led by Jameela Siddiqi to help newcomers demystify these ancient traditions. This year was especially unique because it celebrated the “Universal” nature of the raga, officially bridging the gap between London’s mainstream classical calendar and the ancient heritage of the Indian subcontinent.
